Who we are
Yumbot is a smart food vending business in South Africa, operated by Greg Cooke and partners. For the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), Yumbot is the responsible party for the details you give us on this site. Our information officer is Greg Cooke, reachable at info@yumbot.co.za.
What we collect
- What you type into the interest form: your name, phone number, email address, town and province, the machine you are interested in, whether you have a site, and your timeline.
- Visit data: pages viewed, device and browser type, approximate location (town or city level), how you reached the site (for example a Google ad or a link), and whether you used the form or the WhatsApp link. We collect this with Google Analytics, which uses cookies.
- WhatsApp: if you message us, we see your number and what you send.
We do not ask for ID numbers, bank details or payment on this site.
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and talk to you about a Yumbot machine, finance options and next steps.
- To judge whether there is enough demand and which areas and machines people want.
- To measure whether our website and adverts work, and to improve them.
We contact you about your enquiry because you asked us to (you tick the box on the form). We do not sell your details.
Who sees it
- The Yumbot team (currently Greg Cooke and his business partner).
- Service providers that run this site for us: Netlify (website hosting and form handling), Google (Analytics and, once we use it, Google Ads), and Microsoft (email).
- A finance provider or a machine supplier, but only if you tell us you want us to introduce you or share your details.
Some of these providers store data outside South Africa. We choose providers that protect it to a standard comparable to POPIA.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for up to 12 months after our last contact with you, unless you become a Yumbot owner (then we keep them for as long as the law and our agreement require) or you ask us to delete them sooner. Google Analytics data is kept for the shortest period that suits us (currently 14 months at most).
Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to tell visits apart. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. The site still works without cookies.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to stop contacting you, or withdraw your consent at any time. Email info@yumbot.co.za and we will reply within 30 days. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.
Changes
We will update this page if what we do with your information changes, and show the date at the top.
